The Wisconsin rental application is used when a property owner, landlord, or rental company wants to screen potential tenants who are interested in leasing a specific rental property. It is the responsibility of the person who is responsible for leasing the property to determine whether the applicant meets the requirements for occupying the property. As part of this process, it is necessary to review the information on the form that is specific to the potential tenant. They include details such as their employment status, their previous rental history, and their credit history.
A fee is usually charged to the applicant for these background checks. This is to cover the costs associated with the investigation that needs to be conducted.
Application fee: The amount a landlord may charge is not capped; however, they are only permitted to charge a credit check fee of $20.
There is no restriction on the price a landlord can charge tenants for a security deposit in the state.
