A North Dakota motor vehicle POA form grants an appointed individual (the attorney-in-fact or agent) limited authority to handle vehicle-related tasks such as registration, sale, or purchase. To take on the role, the vehicle owner must select a trusted family member, colleague, acquaintance, reliable employee, or business partner over the age of eighteen (18). This individual must carry out the tasks per the owner's instructions.
The level of authority granted to the attorney-in-fact depends on the type of tasks the owner wants him/her to perform. In comparison to many other types of POA forms, the authority given to the agent or attorney is temporary. Once he/she has completed their duties, the agreement will be terminated.
If the agent or attorney-in-fact is unsure about anything concerning their role as a representative, they must immediately reach out to the principal. This would prevent him/her from making erroneous or unfavorable decisions. As a result, the owner must provide detailed information that can be used to reach them, eg. their home address, email address, and phone number. This information would also enable the North Dakota DMV, buyer, or seller to reach the owner if necessary.
If the creator of the document is a business, they must produce a representative who would verify the name of the company and provide its contact information. Notarization is not necessary to validate this form; however, it is recommended. If the vehicle owner decides to take this step, they must present a valid document of identification (ID) to the notary public. This document could be their driver's license, international passport, birth certificate, or military ID.
The principal may revoke this document at any time. The revocation must be made in writing, notarized, and delivered to the Agent.

Step 2 - Identification of the parties involved.
The first piece of information required on this form is the full legal name of the owner of the vehicle (individual or company) and the full legal name of the individual receiving vehicle authority.
The principal should then read the text provided after the statement of the names and if in agreement, he/she should sign on the line labeled "Duly Authorized Officer of Company or Individual"
Step 3 - Supply more information about the principal

Step 4 - Notarization (If applicable)
If the principal chooses to notarize this document, they should present the form to a notary public official to fill the required information in the designated area at the bottom of the first page.
Step 5 - Vehicle Information
The second page of this form should be filled out by a qualified vehicle technician (i.e. a mechanic).
This person will report information such as the address of the station where the inspection took place, specific details about the vehicle ie. the year of manufacture, the name of the manufacturer (make), the model, the style, the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) and the odometer reading.
