A Kansas vehicle power of attorney (Form TR-41) authorizes a person (an agent or attorney-in-fact) to act on the behalf of another person (the principal owner) concerning their vehicle. The agent named in the power of attorney document will be able to handle motor vehicle registration and titling in a county treasurer's office in Kansas with the Division of Motor Vehicles. The agreement will be terminated once the transfer is completed. The contract requires the owner's signature, the agent's name, and the vehicle information to be valid for use
If the vehicle is subject to a lien, the owner must include the name of at least one lienholder (this can be added under special instructions). When the vehicle is sold, the owner (or the designated attorney-in-fact) is required to repay the lienholder in full. When it comes to mileage disclosure, the attorney-in-fact cannot be both the buyer and the seller. Instead, the owner must execute a durable power of attorney. Exempt vehicles, such as heavy trucks or automobiles older than ten (10) years, are exempt from this step. Filling out a secured power of attorney ensures that the buyer or seller recorded the odometer reading correctly.

Step 2 - The Attorney-in-Fact's/ Agent's Identity
It is essential to properly identify the representative you are granting authority to. Write on the first blank line of this for the full legal name of this individual, make sure the name you provide is identical to the one on the identity card issued by the Kansas Department of Transportation (KDOT).
Step 3 - Vehicle Identification
The subject of this authority must be marked on the vehicle. There are three blank spaces below the agent identification section. Using these three blank spaces, fill out the vehicle's year, make/manufacturer, and style.
Next, enter the Vehicle Identification Number(VIN) as it appears on the title/registration of the vehicle.
Step 4 - Identify any existent lienholder.
If any loans or financing has been involved in procuring this vehicle, it must be noted. There is enough space to identify two lienholders. If this section does not apply to you, you can skip it.
If any lienholders are relevant to the ownership of this vehicle, however, identify them by writing their names and addresses on the blank lines provided ("1st Lienholder, 2nd Lienholder"). Attach an additional sheet of paper for more space if there are more than two.
Step 5 - Document Verification
There is no need for the signature of a notary public on this form, the form may only be verified with the signature of the original owner of the vehicle.
On the blank line labeled "Hand Printed Owner(s) Name," The vehicle owner granting or transferring authority should enter their full legal name, and then their signature goes on the space labeled "Signature of Owner" just beneath the statement starting with the words
