Types of Bill of Sale Forms

  1. Bill of Sale For Vessel – When there has been a sales transaction involving a boat, this bill of sale form is drawn.

  2. Bill of Sale Firearm – When there has been a sales transaction (buying and selling) involving guns, this bill of sale form is drawn.

  3. General Bill of Sale – When there has been a sales transaction involving the buying and selling of private properties, this bill of sale form is drawn.

  4. Bill of Sale For Vehicle – When there has been a sales transaction involving the buying and selling of a vehicle, this bill of sale form is drawn.

Registration Requirements For Vehicles

  • Proof of purchase ( which is a Bill of Sale in this case);

  • Mileage Declaration Form ( also known as an Odometer Disclosure Statement (DMV Form));

  • Document showing Transfer of Title (In cases where the original document has been misplaced,you are to visit any office of the county’s treasurer to make submission of an application to duplicate your title certificate);

  • A permit to drive as approved in Nebraska;

  • In cases where someone else registers the vehicle in place of the original owner of the vehicle, a Nebraska Motor Vehicle Power of Attorney is to be submitted as well;

  • Payment of Registration Costs;

  • A document confirming the payment of sales or excise tax;

  • A document confirming that the vehicle has been insured with Limited Coverages:

    • When an accident results in physical injury or loss of life of one person, $25,000 is paid;

    • For accidents that result in the destruction of property, $25000 is paid; and

    • When an accident results in physical injury or loss of life of more than one person, $50,000 is paid.

Registration Requirements For Vessels

  • A Certificate of Ownership Application;

  • All boats are required to have a hull identification number, thus in the absence of this, you are to apply for an ID number that is approved in Nebraska;

  • It is not a necessity to insure your vessel, however, you might decide to do so for security purposes;

  • Proof of purchase (which is a bill of sale in this case);

  • A document verifying the ownership of a vessel (which is Manufacturer’s Statement of Origin (MSO) in this case);

  • A properly constructed title certificate;

  • In cases where you are not given all the essential documents after buying a vessel, you may qualify to apply for a Bonded Certificate of Title;

  • If these essential documents needed for registration is to be submitted via mail, you are to attach a photograph as a means of identification to it;

  • Proof of payment of necessary taxes.
